Welcome to our little world! My name is Eowyn. My husband, Russell, and I run an Animal sanctuary and ministry called Angel’s Pond. We not only want to help animals but we also want to make sure people feel the love of Jesus in their lives through this endeavor.

I’ve always had a passion to help animals and I married a wonderful man who helped me make that passion a reality. My current job is taking care of the 60 plus animals in our care and helping my husband maintain our 44 acres. My husband works a full time job and also works with the animals, build coops, scoops manure, mows, and does just about anything you can imagine. He has also been paying for it all which is why I started my antique business. I truly hope to eventually cover all of the animals expenses through that venture.

The Sanctuary is named Angel’s Pond because several years ago I came across a precious, young Canada goose with Angel Wing. Due to his deformity, he could not fly and was eventually left behind by his family. I named him Angel and it didn’t take long before he stole my heart. Although I could not legally cage him inside a coop for protection I knew I had to feed him and keep an eye on him. My sweet husband built him floating docks on the pond for safety from predators. We made sure he had friends by purchasing domestic geese (the American Buff’s) and several ducks. Thankfully wild Canada geese also come and go from the pond everyday.

I got approval to be a release location for Canada geese with Angel wing and was placed on several TN lists of someone to contact. Last year I got a call about a goose in Nashville. We named him Hurley and I absolutely love seeing he and Angel together! I hope more will come in the future.

But as far as the name…it was not my idea! One day my niece, Grace, was in for a visit and I started calling out to a goose that was messing with Angel. I said, “Hey, this is Angel’s pond!” I told her I say that to any animal that tries to mess with him. Then she said, you should name your sanctuary Angel’s Pond! I loved it! A few months later she designed the logo you see on this site. Thank you so much Grace!!!

Angel’s Pond was initially going to be just a sanctuary for geese and ducks, but within the first year we learned of several senior horses needing a home. Senior horses are harder to adopt out and definitely more expensive to own. Often times they can no longer be ridden and are deemed “pasture pets”. Not everyone is looking for horses that can’t be ridden so we knew we wanted to give a few a good home.

The next addition was cats. We came here with just our sweet girl, Evie, but more and more cats started to show up on our property. We have had 19 cats here in just 3 years. Every single one we have given vet care, vaccinations, snap tests, had spayed, given monthly wormers and fed. My goal has always been to get them adopted out if possible. If they are too feral and can’t be won over we just make sure they are fed.

We have brought 3 inside which brings us to 4 inside cats. My husband and I made a deal when we got married that I could only have one at a time. Woops! :-) Again, just another amazing way he has supported this dream. We also have 4 barn cats, 2 are feral and 2 are still up for adoption.

Our future goals are to add more animals as the funds allow. Our every day goal is to make sure we love and care for the animals that God has put in our care. We want to not only show them love but love to the people that God brings into our path because of them. Thank you for being here, reading this, and being a part of what God is doing! Every purchase, every prayer, ever like on a post you give means so much and is always appreciated!
