Laney came to us from a rescue out of Jackson, TN. She was abandoned in a field and was literally skin and bones. She couldn’t even stand and had wounds all over her body. We saw her videos and my heart broke. I knew we had to adopt her. Her teeth are so worn down that she can barely eat any grass or hay without quidding. Because of this, most of her diet is Triple Crown Senior feed. She also has Cushing’s Disease and has to have daily meds. Her other needs are hoof trims, teeth floating, wormers and vet visits.

Despite all of issues she is the sweetest girl although sometimes shy. She almost seemed “checked out” when she first got here but I was determined to win her over and prove to her that not all humans were bad. It finally worked!

She is currently in her 20’s and living a happy life as a pasture beauty…and look how beautiful she is!

Our sweet and tall Belgian draft, Mae, was worked most of her life. She pulled heavy loads and by the time she came to us at 20 years old she was pretty worn out. She was underweight, full of burrs, bad hooves and long teeth. We weren’t sure she would make it a year, but with God’s help she pulled through.

She is Russell’s bestie, our lead mare, beautiful , strong and the biggest love bug you’ll meet! She does have some pretty severe joint issues and is on daily pills for the rest of her life. She eats a ton of Triple Crown Senior mash, has regular hoof trimmings, teeth floating, wormers and vet visits. She is definitely our largest resident as well as our most expensive around here…but she is worth it!

Dreamer and his sister Rain came to us this past year. We found out that a lady at our church had recently lost her husband. She had 4 horses and while she truly wanted to keep all of them, she was struggling both financially and physically to do so. I called her and immediately felt such a strong bond. I also felt her grief as she openly admitted that her horses had less attention and food while her husband was struggling with his health. I am so grateful that God was already orchestrating a plan. He was preparing our hearts as he was preparing theirs. It wasn't easy on her to let them go. It broke my heart as I watched her slowly walk behind our trailer crying as we pulled away. But that is how much she loves them. She wanted the best for them. She wanted to make sure they were together in a loving home...and for that I am ever so grateful.

Rain is a calm, laid back and very friendly 18 year old girl. Like Dreamer, she was a little food aggressive when she arrived but has calmed down in just a few short months. She is always by Dreamer’s side and enjoys water baths, brushing and treats. Her main upkeep is hoof trims, teeth cleanings, some Triple Crown Senior feed, wormers and vet checkups.
